Channel crossing ,English East coast and English northeast coast Holland is a very good basis to cross the North Sea to the UK. After sailing the Dutch and Belgium coast followed by a channel crossing it possible to visit the UK east coast. Another possibility is to leave IJmuiden directly to go to the UK east coast depending on weather and experience of the crew. Once on the east coast there are beautiful small towns and tidal rivers to explorer. Rivers like the Stour, Orwell and Deben, or tows such as Lowestoft, Harwich, Woolverstone, Ramsgate and the famous white cliffs of Dover. An experience you will remember for a long time. If we follow the Northeast coast we will sail to places such as Scarborough, Whitby and Hartlepool. Here we have the tidal river Tyne with old English shipyards and we can visit Newcastle upstream to do shopping and sightseeing |

Every crossing over the North Sea to the UK is experienced as a milestone and every time it´s different. The shipping lanes, the traffic separation zone with it´s fast big ships, is one of the obstructions which we have to overcome when going to a overseas harbour. We sail in watch system and sail through the night, with all the `strange` navigation lights around us, on the longer crossings. For the more experienced sailors there are interesting navigational exercises with the weather systems and it´s weather gates, sandbanks, tides and tidal rivers with the shallow harbour entries with a sill while the rivers are drying up. The Thames moth is a perfect spot to be with all the sandbanks and traffic to London to train traditional navigation . We can arrange a special program for you to fulfil all your wishes |
